Vifly ShortSaver 2
Vifly ShortSaver 2 is a smart electronic protection solution designed for the safe testing and initial power-up of FPV drones and other RC equipment. It acts as a “smoke stopper,” with its primary purpose being to prevent damage to electronic components in the event of a short circuit or overcurrent. Unlike traditional methods, such as light bulb limiters or resettable fuses, the Vifly ShortSaver 2 cuts off power completely rather than partially limiting it, significantly reducing the risk of damaging sensitive electronics.
Vifly ShortSaver 2 functions as an electronic fuse (eFuse) that continuously monitors current flow in the device. If an abnormally high current draw is detected—for example, a short circuit caused by a poor solder joint or wiring error—the device cuts the power within just a few milliseconds. In the event of a short circuit, the response time is approximately 3 ms, and for overcurrent, it is about 10 ms, meaning potential damage is halted before it can become critical.
Device features a switchable current threshold between 1A and 2A, allowing the user to customize protection according to the needs of the specific project. The 1A mode is suitable for smaller drones with lower current draw and more sensitive electronics, while the 2A mode offers the necessary flexibility for larger and more powerful devices. Additionally, the sensitivity of the protection response can be adjusted to prevent false alarms that might occur due to current spikes during startup.
Practicality is enhanced by the integrated on/off button, which makes testing equipment and tasks like binding receivers much more convenient, as there is no need to repeatedly disconnect the battery. Vifly ShortSaver 2 is equipped with both XT30 and XT60 input and output connectors, ensuring broad compatibility with various batteries and devices.
With compact dimensions of approximately 42 × 30 × 10 mm and an input voltage range of 7–25 V (2–6S LiPo batteries), Vifly ShortSaver 2 is suitable for both beginners and experienced drone builders who want to protect their electronics and make the building process safer.
