General description and objective
BetaFPV LAVA II 1S 680 mAh offers a balance between energy density, power and flight time – one of the largest 1S batteries used by tiny drones without adding too much weight. 680 mAh capacity delivers peak flight performance and stable power when piloting a small drone. This type of battery is particularly suitable for smaller 75 mm radius whoop drones such as the Air75, Meteor75 Pro, Cetus Pro and Cetus X.
Basic technical parameters
🔋 Capacity:680 mAh – allows for longer flight times compared to smaller 280-480 mAh batteries, especially when flying moderately or for longer freestyle flights.
⚡ Power capacity: ~2.58 Wh – the pure energy that’s in the battery to support longer sessions.
🔌 C-Rate: 95C – high current capacity means the battery can power the engine stably even under heavy load (e.g. during full throttle bursts).
📏 Dimensions: about80×15×6.5 mm – compactness is maintained even with a 580 mAh battery.
⚖️ Weight: ~16.2 g – suitable for microdrones, keeping the total weight down, which is critical for flight performance.
🔋 Type: LiHV (High Voltage Lithium) – nominal voltage 3.8 V, maximum up to 4.35 V when charging.
🔌 Connector: BT2.0 – the standard connection used by many tiny drones.
Z-Folding technology – what is it and why is it important?
Z-Folding process used in the BetaFPV Lava II 1S battery is one of the key innovations represented by the LAVA II series. Traditionally, drone batteries have been “wound cells”, but Z-Folding uses a lower internal resistance structure. This brings a number of practical advantages:
-
Lower internal resistance → more stable and higher voltage under load.
-
0.1-0.2 V higher voltage under load, which means less voltage drop and better power transfer to the motors.
-
Higher energy density – the same size battery holds more energy, allowing longer flight times.
-
Longer cycle life – the battery can withstand repeated charge-discharge cycles better than conventional rechargeable batteries.
This technology gives BetaFPV LAVA II 1S battery a competitive edge among top-of-the-range mini-drone batteries.
Real flying performance and operational experience
BetaFPV LAVA II 1S batteries – including the 680 mAh version – have received positive feedback from the community for its long flight time and stable current. Some pilots have noted that the LAVA II offers significantly longer flight time and better performance compared to older LAVA or conventional 1S batteries.
For example, tiny whoops pilots have reported that LAVA II batteries can provide up to about 1 minute or more of extra flight time compared to LAVA I batteries in the same drone – especially if you fly moderately and don’t drain the battery.
It should be noted, however, that 1S batteries are relatively consumable accessories – they tend to experience voltage drops over time or swell during use if not properly maintained (for example, by discharging too deeply or overcharging). This is not specific to BetaFPV LAVA alone, but rather the hobbyist nature of 1S batteries, which means they may need replacing after a while.
Security and charging
-
Always charge with a charger designed for LiHV batteries and do not leave charging unattended.
-
Don’t run the battery too low (below ~3 V) and keep between ~3.8-3.9 V for short-term storage.
-
Avoid damaging the battery (short circuits, physical injury, etc.).
Suitability for drones and applications
BetaFPV LAVA II 1S 680 mAh is the ideal choice for FPV pilots looking for better flight time and stable performance on larger tiny-whoop drones – for example:
-
Air75 series
-
Cetus Pro / Cetus X
These drones are able to take advantage of the higher capacity and 95C current capability of the LAVA II batteries to achieve a better lift factor and longer flight time.
