The antenna supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, allowing it to improve radio communication with compatible DJI drone systems.
The product is primarily designed for the DJI RC Plus controller and DJI Matrice 30 series drones. The package includes the antenna, mounting bracket and necessary connection accessories, allowing the existing antenna system to be replaced without modifying the drone itself.
With its high antenna gain, adjustable orientation and durable construction, Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller is suitable for professional drone operations, including infrastructure inspections, technical monitoring, mapping and other tasks where reliable radio communication is essential.
High-Performance Antenna System for Professional Drones
Radio communication between the drone and controller is one of the most important factors affecting precise drone control and the quality of real-time video transmission.
In challenging operating environments, connectivity may be affected by various factors, including surrounding radio signals, buildings, metal structures, terrain and improper antenna orientation.
Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller is designed for situations where improved radio signal quality and efficient use of the controller’s antenna system are required.
Unlike conventional antennas that radiate over a wider area, Raptor XR uses a directional antenna design that helps concentrate the signal within a specific region.
This can improve connection quality when the drone’s position and flight direction are known and the antenna can be aimed towards the aircraft.
Raptor XR is a passive antenna system that does not require a separate external amplifier or additional power source to improve signal performance.
Dual-Band Support – 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller supports two important radio frequency bands used for drone control and video transmission.
Both radio-frequency channels of the antenna operate within the 2.40–2.50 GHz and 5.00–5.80 GHz frequency ranges.
Dual-band support allows the antenna to work with the DJI controller’s radio communication system while maintaining the ability to use different frequency ranges depending on the device’s operating mode and surrounding conditions.
The 2.4 GHz frequency band is often preferred when signal propagation over longer distances is important. The 5 GHz band, on the other hand, may offer advantages in certain radio environments where reduced interference can contribute to a better connection.
Actual radio communication quality depends on the frequencies in use, the surrounding environment, line of sight between the drone and controller, and the characteristics of the drone system.
Support for both frequency bands makes Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller a versatile solution for professional drone operators working in different environments.
High Antenna Gain for Improved Signal Quality
One of the most important technical features of Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller is its high antenna gain, which helps direct radio signals more effectively towards the drone.
According to the manufacturer, the antenna gain is 11 dBi ±1 dBi in the 2.4 GHz band and 14 dBi ±1 dBi in the 5 GHz band.
These values apply to both radio-frequency channels of the antenna.
Higher antenna gain means that the antenna can concentrate radio signals in a particular direction more effectively than an antenna with lower directional gain.
This can improve signal reception and transmission and support a more stable connection when the drone is located within the antenna’s main radiation direction.
It is important to understand that higher antenna gain does not automatically guarantee a specific increase in flight range. Actual results depend on the drone’s radio system, antenna orientation, obstacles, interference and applicable radio-frequency regulations.
Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller is therefore primarily intended to improve radio communication efficiency rather than alter the manufacturer’s specified flight restrictions.
Directional Radio Signals and Reduced Interference
Raptor XR uses directional antenna technology designed to improve connection quality with a drone located in a specific direction.
An important advantage of a directional antenna is its ability to focus on the desired signal and reduce the relative impact of interference arriving from other directions.
This is particularly useful in areas where multiple radio devices operate simultaneously or where surrounding buildings and technical structures may affect signal propagation.
According to the manufacturer, the radiation angles of Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller are 70°/40° in the 2.4 GHz band and 40°/25° in the 5 GHz band.
These values describe the antenna’s directional characteristics in different planes.
A narrower radiation angle allows radio signals to be directed more precisely, but it also requires the operator to monitor the drone’s position and keep the antenna correctly oriented.
For this reason, Raptor XR is particularly well suited to operations where the drone’s working area is known in advance or where the operator can adjust the antenna orientation during flight.
More Stable Video Transmission and Improved Reliability
Professional drone operations depend not only on the transmission of control commands but also on the reliable delivery of live camera footage to the controller display.
Real-time video allows the operator to monitor the drone’s surroundings, assess the operating area and make necessary decisions.
Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller is designed to improve radio communication quality, which may help reduce video signal interruptions and improve connection stability under suitable conditions.
This is important for applications such as technical inspections, power line surveys, construction site monitoring and other professional operations.
The antenna does not change the drone camera’s resolution, recording quality or image stabilisation capabilities. Its purpose is to improve radio communication between the controller and drone.
Actual video transmission quality continues to depend on the drone’s radio system, environmental conditions, and correct antenna installation and orientation.
Efficient Radio Communication Without an External Signal Amplifier
Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller operates as a passive antenna and does not require a separate electronic signal amplifier.
This means the antenna system does not need an additional battery, external power cable or separate amplification device.
Signal performance is improved through the antenna’s design, directional characteristics and high antenna gain.
This approach helps keep the system relatively simple and reduces the need for additional electronic components.
The absence of an external amplifier also makes the system more convenient to use outdoors, where extra equipment and power sources can complicate operations.
Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller is therefore suitable for professional operators who want to improve their controller’s antenna performance without complicated additional devices.
Adjustable Antenna Orientation for More Precise Signal Direction
When using a directional antenna, it is important to be able to adjust its position according to the drone’s location.
Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller features an adjustable mounting system that allows the antenna’s tilt angle to be changed and positioned appropriately.
The manufacturer describes the mount as an OnClick system with five tilt positions.
This allows the operator to adapt the antenna’s position to the working environment, the angle at which the controller is held and the drone’s location.
The adjustable construction is particularly useful when the drone flies at different altitudes or when the operator works in changing positions.
Correct antenna orientation helps make effective use of its directional characteristics and supports better radio communication quality.
Compatibility with the DJI RC Plus Controller
Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller is specifically designed for the DJI RC Plus controller.
The antenna system is primarily associated with the RC Plus configuration used to operate DJI Matrice 30 and Matrice 30T drones.
The product model number is 4Hawks A139X.
The included mounting solution is designed to replace the controller’s existing antennas with the Raptor XR directional antenna.
It is important to note that DJI RC Plus and DJI RC Plus 2 are different controllers. The manufacturer offers a separate antenna version for RC Plus 2, and compatibility with the newer controller should not be assumed for this product.
Before purchasing, users should verify the exact controller model and compatibility of its antenna connections.
Installation Without Modifying the Drone
One of the important advantages of Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller is that the drone itself does not need to be modified.
The antenna system is installed on the DJI RC Plus controller, replacing its standard antennas with a compatible connection solution.
The package includes a stainless steel mounting bracket, antenna cables, connection adapters and the tools required for installation.
This allows the antenna to be installed without opening the drone’s housing or modifying its electronics.
During installation, the manufacturer’s instructions must be followed, and all radio-frequency connections should be checked for correct installation.
Replacing the controller’s antennas may affect the device manufacturer’s warranty conditions or its certified radio configuration. These factors should be verified before installation.
Precise Radio-Frequency Characteristics
Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller is manufactured for professional radio communication applications where accurate electrical antenna characteristics are important.
The antenna has two radio-frequency channels, each supporting the 2.40–2.50 GHz and 5.00–5.80 GHz frequency ranges.
Both channels provide an antenna gain of 11 dBi ±1 dBi in the lower frequency band and 14 dBi ±1 dBi in the higher frequency band.
The antenna’s nominal impedance is 50 ohms, matching the standard impedance commonly used in radio-frequency connection systems.
The manufacturer specifies a voltage standing wave ratio, or VSWR, below 1.50, with a maximum value below 2.00.
A low VSWR indicates good antenna impedance matching, helping reduce reflected radio-frequency energy within the connection.
The antenna uses vertical polarisation, which is important for compatibility between the antenna and the radio communication system.
These technical characteristics support Raptor XR in professional drone applications where stable radio communication and signal quality are essential.
Durable Construction for Professional Use
Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller is manufactured from various technical materials selected to combine durability, dimensional stability and practical usability.
The antenna construction uses Samsung ABS plastic, polyurethane, aluminium, stainless steel, nylon and PTFE-based circuit board material.
This combination of materials helps create a structure suitable for professional use in different working environments.
The mounting bracket is made from finished stainless steel, providing strong mechanical support for attaching the antenna to the controller.
The antenna is designed as an integrated panel, reducing the need for separate detachable antenna elements.
This makes the antenna easier to transport and use while helping maintain a unified installed system.
Compact Dimensions and Balanced Weight
For a high-gain directional antenna, it is important to balance performance with physical size.
The Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller antenna measures 29.2 × 18.2 × 2.1 cm.
Its panel-shaped design provides directional radio communication within a relatively slim housing.
The total weight of the kit is approximately 520 grams, consisting of around 450 grams for the antenna and 70 grams for the mounting bracket.
These dimensions and weight allow the antenna to be used with a portable controller, although the accessory increases the controller’s overall weight and dimensions.
For extended working days or outdoor operations, operators should consider controller ergonomics and use appropriate support if necessary.
RP-SMA Connections and Complete Installation Solution
Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller uses two RP-SMA female antenna connectors.
The package includes compatible connection cables and adapters for connecting the antenna to a suitable DJI RC Plus controller.
Two black RG316 antenna cables with RP-SMA male connectors and two MCX-to-SMA adapters are included.
These components are designed to establish the radio-frequency connection between the antenna and controller.
Properly connected and correctly installed cables are important for minimising signal losses and ensuring reliable operation.
During installation, excessive cable bending, mechanical stress on connectors and interference with the controller’s moving parts should be avoided.
Applications in Infrastructure Inspection
Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller is suitable for professional drone operators carrying out technical inspections and visual surveys.
For example, drones can be used to inspect power lines, towers, industrial facilities, buildings and other infrastructure.
In these situations, radio communication between the drone and controller may be affected by nearby metal structures, buildings or other obstacles.
A directional antenna system may help improve connection quality when the drone is positioned within the antenna’s effective direction and radio propagation conditions allow it.
However, no antenna can guarantee uninterrupted connectivity under all conditions, and signal propagation may still be affected by obstacles and electromagnetic interference.
Mapping, Monitoring and Professional Flight Operations
In addition to technical inspections, Raptor XR DJI RC Plus Controller may also be useful for mapping, site monitoring and other professional drone operations.
During mapping and monitoring tasks, drones often follow predetermined routes or operate within defined working areas.
In such situations, a directional antenna may provide advantages because the operator can aim it towards the drone’s expected position.
More stable radio communication may improve workflow efficiency and reduce the likelihood of interruptions caused by connection problems.
However, Raptor XR does not replace flight planning, radio signal monitoring or safety procedures.
All flights must comply with applicable aviation regulations, including visual line-of-sight requirements, altitude restrictions and radio-frequency usage conditions.
