Unitree R1 Charger – dedicated charger for Unitree R1 humanoid robot
Unitree R1 Charger is a compact and reliable charger designed for smart battery used by Unitree R1 humanoid robot. It provides output voltage and charging current suitable for R1 battery system, helping keep robot ready for education, research and development projects, laboratory testing, and technology demonstrations. Charger is suitable as a replacement for an existing unit or as an additional charger in environments where several batteries, robots, or separate charging stations are used.
Unitree R1 humanoid robot is often used in projects involving extended periods of programming, calibration, and motion testing. A stable charging solution is important in such workflows, as a flat battery can interrupt an experiment, lesson, or demonstration. Unitree R1 Charger makes charging easier to organise and plan because it has been designed specifically for R1 platform.
A suitable charging solution for Unitree R1
Unitree R1 Charger is intended for use with Unitree R1 humanoid robot battery system. R1 series uses a removable smart battery with a nominal voltage of 33.12 V, a capacity of 6000 mAh, and an energy rating of 199 Wh. Robot typically operates for approximately one hour, although actual runtime depends on robot configuration, movement intensity, computing load, accessories, and operating conditions.
Charger provides an output voltage of 54 V and an output current of 5 A, resulting in an estimated maximum output power of approximately 270 W. This performance allows R1 battery to be charged efficiently, while actual charging rate is controlled by battery and robot charging system according to battery condition, temperature, and safety parameters. Charging time may therefore vary under different conditions.
Using a dedicated charger helps prevent connection of adapters with unsuitable voltage, current, or connectors. Unitree R1 Charger is designed to meet electrical requirements of R1 platform, making it a safer and more practical option than adapting a universal power supply.
Universal 100–240 V input
Unitree R1 Charger supports a 100–240 V AC input at 50/60 Hz. Its wide input voltage range allows charger to be used with electrical networks in different countries when paired with a suitable local power cable or compliant plug adapter. This is a practical feature for research institutions, international development teams, and users transporting an R1 robot to exhibitions, competitions, or demonstrations.
Input current is up to 4 A, while input power rating is 350 VA. Charger converts AC power from mains supply into DC power suitable for R1 charging system. When connected correctly, same charger can be used with electrical systems found in conventional offices, laboratories, classrooms, and development centres.
Although input voltage is universal, plug fitted to included power cable must be checked before use to ensure compatibility with local mains sockets. Damaged cables, poor-quality extension leads, and plug adapters of unknown origin should not be used.
Compact housing and convenient transport
Unitree R1 Charger measures approximately 210 × 108 × 48.2 mm and weighs around 1 kg. Its compact housing fits easily among robot accessories and is convenient to transport between workstations. Charger does not require permanent installation, allowing it to be used in both fixed charging areas and temporary testing or demonstration locations.
Compact dimensions are also beneficial in laboratories and classrooms where worktop space may be limited. Charger can be positioned at a safe distance from robot while leaving sufficient room for cables and airflow. When several R1 robots or batteries are in use, a dedicated charging area can be created for multiple chargers, helping keep equipment organised and reduce risk of using an incorrect adapter.
Smart battery management and charging safety
Unitree R1 battery uses a battery management system, or BMS, developed by Unitree to monitor charging, discharging, and operating conditions. Battery protection functions include cell balancing and protection against overcharging, excessive discharge, short circuits, unsuitable charging current, and incorrect charging temperature. Unitree R1 Charger works with this battery system to keep charging within parameters specified for R1 platform.
For safe charging, charger should be placed on a dry, stable, and well-ventilated surface. It must not be covered during use or positioned near heating appliances, direct sunlight, or flammable materials. If battery has been used intensively and is hot, it should be allowed to cool to a suitable temperature before charging.
Condition of battery, charger, cables, and connectors should be inspected before charging. Charging should not continue if housing is damaged, a connector is deformed, an unusual smell is detected, excessive heat develops, or any other abnormality is noticed. Charger must be used according to Unitree instructions, and charging process should not be left unattended for extended periods.
Suitable for laboratories, educational institutions, and development centres
Unitree R1 Charger is well suited to environments where a humanoid robot is used regularly and its battery must remain ready for different stages of work. In a robotics laboratory, an additional charger allows one battery to be charged while another is being used in robot. This helps reduce waiting time between tests and supports a smoother development workflow.
In educational institutions, Unitree R1 Charger can form part of a dedicated charging station where robot is prepared for lectures, practical sessions, and student projects. A clearly designated charger compatible with R1 reduces risk of connecting an incorrect adapter. At technology demonstrations and exhibitions, a spare charger helps keep robot ready throughout the day, especially when R1 performs repeated demonstrations.
For corporate research and development teams, Unitree R1 Charger is suitable for both everyday charging and use as a backup unit. An additional charger can be useful when robot is operated in several laboratories, separate testing rooms, or off-site events and users do not want to transport one charger constantly between locations.
Which Unitree R1 models are compatible with this charger?
Official Unitree R1 platform configurations include R1 AIR, R1, and development-oriented R1 EDU. Each model is supplied with a charger and uses a smart battery system designed for R1 series. Unitree R1 Charger sold separately is intended for charging requirements of same platform, but users should verify exact robot version, battery type, charging port, and package compatibility before purchase.
Charger should not be used with other Unitree robots or batteries requiring a different voltage. An externally similar connector does not automatically guarantee electrical compatibility. Using correct charger model helps protect charger, battery, and robot against potential damage.
A practical additional or replacement charger for Unitree R1
Unitree R1 Charger is designed specifically for charging Unitree R1 humanoid robot battery. Its 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz input supports use with various electrical networks. A 54 V, 5 A output, estimated maximum output power of approximately 270 W, and compact 210 × 108 × 48.2 mm housing make it a practical choice for laboratories, educational institutions, development centres, and technology demonstrations.
A separate Unitree R1 Charger helps create a second charging point, reduce interruptions caused by sharing one charger, or replace a lost or damaged charging unit. Together with Unitree R1 smart battery and its BMS protection system, charger supports a stable, purpose-built charging process so humanoid robot is ready for its next experiment, lesson, or demonstration.
