GEPRC Racer – a lightweight FPV racing drone with precise handling
GEPRC Racer is an FPV racing drone with a 208 mm wheelbase, combining a lightweight design, powerful brushless motors and an ExpressLRS 2.4 GHz control link. Designed for fast circuit flying, practising precise manoeuvres and competing in races, it is particularly suited to experienced FPV pilots and advanced enthusiasts who value direct flight feedback and responsive control.
T700 carbon fibre frame and thoughtful design
GEPRC Racer uses a GEP-Racer frame that combines T700 carbon fibre with 7075-T6 aluminium alloy. This combination provides a rigid structure while keeping weight low. The top and bottom plates are 2 mm thick, while the motor arms are 5 mm thick.
Quick-release frame arms simplify the replacement of damaged parts. A fin-shaped support on top of the frame helps prevent an overturned drone from resting completely flat against the ground, making it easier to use turtle mode to flip it upright.
SPEEDX2 motors and 6S power
GEPRC SPEEDX2 2207 2050 KV motors work with Gemfan 51366 three-blade propellers. This combination is designed for strong acceleration and rapid changes of direction. For this motor version, the manufacturer specifies a weight of approximately 279 ± 5 g without a flight battery.
The recommended power source is a 6S LiPo battery with a capacity of 1300–1500 mAh. Battery choice affects overall weight, handling and flight time, so it should reflect your flying style and the demands of your training sessions or race circuit.
TAKER F722 flight controller and 55 A ESC
Flight control is handled by a TAKER F722 SE flight controller equipped with an STM32F722RET6 processor and an MPU6000 gyroscope. The gyroscope measures the drone’s rotational movement, allowing the flight controller to adjust motor output in response to the pilot’s commands.
The controller features a USB-C connection for configuration and Betaflight OSD based on an AT7456E chip. This on-screen display can overlay selected flight data, such as battery voltage and flight time, onto the FPV feed. Built-in Blackbox memory records flight logs that can be used to analyse settings and fine-tune flight behaviour.
Motor control is provided by a TAKER E55A 32-bit four-in-one electronic speed controller, which combines control of all four motors on a single board. It has a continuous current rating of 55 A and supports control protocols including DShot150, DShot300 and DShot600. This layout suits a compact racing drone and allows each motor’s speed to be controlled independently.
ExpressLRS 2.4 GHz control link
The GEPRC Racer ELRS2.4G version includes an ExpressLRS 2.4 GHz receiver. Its low-latency control link helps maintain responsive handling, which is essential for fast circuit flying, passing through gates and making consecutive changes of direction.
A compatible ExpressLRS 2.4 GHz radio controller or a controller fitted with a suitable transmitter module is required. Before the first flight, bind the receiver to the transmitter and check control channels, flight modes and failsafe settings, which determine how the drone responds if the control link is lost.
RunCam Nano4 camera and analogue video transmission
A RunCam Nano4 camera and GEPRC RAD Tiny 5.8 GHz video transmitter provide the live flight feed. The transmitter has a maximum output power of 400 mW, and the video system includes a Peano 5.8 GHz RHCP antenna. The camera gives the pilot an onboard view for judging flight paths and timing manoeuvres.
Using the analogue video system requires FPV goggles or a monitor with a compatible 5.8 GHz receiver. The ELRS link carries control commands, while the camera feed is transmitted over a separate 5.8 GHz video link.
Package contents and additional flight equipment
The package includes a GEPRC Racer drone, two pairs of Gemfan 51366 propellers, two battery straps, two non-slip battery pads, spare screws, 1.5 mm and 2 mm L-shaped tools, and an M8 wrench. These accessories help with flight preparation and routine maintenance.
A flight battery, suitable LiPo charger, compatible radio controller and FPV goggles must be selected separately. GEPRC Racer is suited to pilots who want to develop their FPV flying skills with a racing-focused drone that is easy to service and configure.
