RadioMaster RP3 V2 ExpressLRS 2.4GHz Nano Receiver is a compact, lightweight 2.4 GHz ELRS receiver for FPV drones and other compatible RC models.
Dual antennas with automatic antenna switching and a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) help maintain a stable control link, while up to 100 mW telemetry output power, a CRSF interface and firmware updates over Wi-Fi provide flexible setup and maintenance options.
RadioMaster RP3 V2 – Dual-Antenna ExpressLRS Receiver for FPV Drones
RadioMaster RP3 V2 is a compact 2.4 GHz ExpressLRS receiver for FPV drones and other RC models with compatible control electronics. Dual antennas, automatic antenna switching and a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) help maintain a stable control link. A CRSF interface connects the receiver to a flight controller, while Wi-Fi updates simplify firmware management.
ExpressLRS Connectivity and Fast Control Signal Transmission
RadioMaster RP3 V2 uses the open-source ExpressLRS system and supports LoRa and FLRC radio links in the 2.4 GHz band. Manufacturer-specified maximum packet rates are 500 Hz and 1000 Hz in F1000 mode. Available modes depend on the transmitter, firmware and selected settings.
The receiver works with radio controllers featuring a built-in 2.4 GHz ELRS module, as well as compatible external transmitter modules. To establish a connection, the transmitter and receiver must run compatible ExpressLRS firmware major versions. When upgrading an existing radio system, check both devices’ firmware versions as well as their frequency band.
Dual Antennas and Automatic Antenna Switching
The receiver uses two 65 mm T-antennas and a diversity system that switches between them. Automatic antenna switching helps improve reception stability when reception conditions deteriorate for one antenna. An integrated low-noise amplifier (LNA) helps receive weak radio signals.
TCXO Helps Maintain Frequency Stability
RadioMaster RP3 V2’s temperature-compensated crystal oscillator, or TCXO, helps reduce frequency drift caused by temperature changes. Reliable radio communication requires transmitter and receiver frequencies to remain sufficiently aligned. Heat generated by electronics and changes in ambient temperature can affect a conventional crystal oscillator.
TCXO compensates for these changes, helping maintain frequency accuracy. This is useful in models where electronic components change temperature during operation. Greater frequency stability helps maintain a reliable connection, although actual reception also depends on installation and the radio environment.
Up to 100 mW Telemetry Output Power
Telemetry transmission power reaches up to 100 mW. Telemetry sends information from the model back to the radio controller, allowing pilots to monitor important flight data while sending control commands.
Depending on the flight controller and installed sensors, transmitted data may include battery voltage, current draw, GPS coordinates or model attitude. The receiver relays information supplied by the flight controller; available readings depend on the equipment and configuration of the complete system.
CRSF Interface for Flight Controller Connection
RadioMaster RP3 V2 communicates with a flight controller via the CRSF protocol. A suitable free UART interface carries control signals to the flight controller and telemetry data back to the receiver.
The receiver requires a 5 V DC power supply. Installation involves connecting power, ground, TX and RX according to the flight controller’s wiring diagram. In the flight controller software, serial receiver operation must be enabled on the selected UART, with CRSF selected as the receiver protocol.
This connection works with compatible flight controllers running software such as Betaflight and INAV. Correct wiring and software configuration enable both control and telemetry through a single receiver.
Wi-Fi Firmware Updates and Binding Phrase Support
Firmware can be updated over Wi-Fi, making maintenance easier once the receiver is installed in a model. In ExpressLRS configuration tools, select the appropriate RP3 device profile and a firmware version compatible with the transmitter.
A shared binding phrase can be used to pair the transmitter and receiver. Assigning the same phrase to both devices simplifies connection setup. This is also convenient for users who have several models equipped with ExpressLRS receivers and want to operate them with the same radio controller.
Compact Dimensions and Lightweight Design
The receiver measures 22 × 13 × 4 mm and weighs 4.6 g, including both antennas. Package contents include the receiver, two T-antennas with UFL connectors, a CRSF connection cable and a user manual.
Its compact design makes RadioMaster RP3 V2 a practical choice for projects where installation space and added weight matter.
