DJI, best known as the market leader in consumer drones, has expanded its product range with the launch of the new Osmo Action 5 Pro adventure camera.
The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro stands out for its impressive features, solving many of the problems that adventure cameras have historically struggled with. With an excellent battery life that allows up to four hours of video recording in 4K60fps mode, an effective image stabilizer and a durable, lightweight design, this camera is a versatile tool. In addition, the camera features a 1/1.3-inch sensor that allows up to 4K/120fps recording, and delivers excellent image quality in daylight and at night, surpassing even GoPro cameras. The camera has 47GB of internal memory and three electronic stabilisation modes – RockSteady, RockSteady+ and HorizonSteady – for smooth shots in all conditions.
Comfortable design and strong fastenings
The DJI Action 5 Pro is small and light enough (145g) to attach to a helmet or use with an extendable selfie stick and mini tripod. The camera is shockproof and waterproof up to 20 metres. The two colourful OLED screens make it easy to frame and track the shot from both sides. The camera also features a removable and replaceable lens cover to protect the lens from surface damage. The included bezel protects the body from shocks while maintaining access to the buttons and USB-C slot.
Fixing and compatibility with accessories
DJI has equipped the Action 5 Pro with an innovative quick-release magnetic attachment mechanism that is compatible with a wide range of accessories, including helmet and bike mounts, extendable selfie sticks and mini tripods. The camera can also be used as a webcam. DJI sells a full range of mounts and accessories for the Osmo, including a set of quick-mount ND filters for the lens.
Software and post-processing options
The camera supports live streaming via the Mimo mobile app, which allows you to control camera settings and share content on social media. In addition, it supports 10-bit D-Log M and HLG colour profiles, providing more options for post-processing. Wi-Fi 6.0 and a USB-C 3.0 port also enable fast file transfer and battery charging.
Action 5 Pro is available in two kits:
- Standard Combo (€379): Includes camera, one battery, protective frame, quick-release, curved adhesive mount, locking screw, USB-C cable, lens cover, glass lens cover and anti-slip base.
- Adventure Combo (€479): in addition to the Standard Kit, the Adventure Combo includes three Extreme batteries, an additional mini quick-release adapter, two locking screws, a battery charging case and a 1.5 m mini extension tube.
In addition, a range of accessories are available, sold separately, including mounts, extension rods and microphones. The camera also supports microSD cards, which allows for storage expansion and offers the user additional options.
