DJI O4 Ground Station is a next-generation professional ground station designed to significantly extend the operational range of DJI Enterprise drones while ensuring a stable and reliable communication link even in demanding environments. The system expands connectivity in areas where cellular coverage is limited or unavailable, delivering dependable video transmission, precise positioning, and around-the-clock reliability. With support for both Gateway Mode and Relay Mode, it is ideally suited for automated DJI Dock 3 deployments as well as manually operated enterprise drone missions.
DJI O4 Ground Station is designed primarily for professional users working in infrastructure inspection, power line and pipeline monitoring, public safety, emergency response, forestry, agriculture, and industrial surveying. Its purpose is to minimise communication interruptions and maintain a dependable connection even in locations where conventional radio communication systems struggle.
Maximum Coverage and Reliable Communication
DJI O4 Ground Station incorporates a high-performance RF module together with 12 high-gain internal and external antennas, providing consistent 360-degree radio coverage. The antennas utilise both horizontal and vertical polarisation, ensuring a stable connection regardless of the aircraft’s orientation or flight direction.
Automatic multi-band frequency selection dynamically switches between sub-2 GHz, 2.4 GHz, 5.2 GHz, and 5.8 GHz frequency bands to minimise radio interference and maintain high-quality video transmission even in electromagnetically congested urban environments. This results in smooth real-time video streaming and significantly reduces the risk of signal loss.
When used with the DJI Matrice 400 platform, DJI O4 Ground Station can achieve video transmission distances of up to 40 km under ideal conditions. Under CE regulations in Europe, the maximum transmission range varies by platform and typically reaches between 18 and 25 kilometres. Actual operating distance depends on terrain, obstacles, and radio interference.
Gateway Mode – Remote Operations Through DJI FlightHub 2
Gateway Mode allows DJI O4 Ground Station to connect directly to the DJI FlightHub 2 cloud platform via Ethernet or DJI Cellular Dongle 2. This means the ground station does not need to be installed close to the DJI Dock 3 and can instead be positioned wherever radio performance is optimal.
Using the FlightHub 2 Virtual Cockpit, operators can remotely control the aircraft over the internet, monitor the live video feed, and modify planned flight routes whenever required. After each mission, FlightHub 2 generates signal coverage maps that help determine the optimal installation location for future deployments while improving overall system reliability.
Relay Mode – Reliable Communication Without Internet Access
In locations where mobile or internet connectivity is unavailable, Relay Mode enables DJI O4 Ground Station to operate as an independent radio relay station. The system builds upon the capabilities of the DJI D-RTK 3 Relay Fixed Deployment solution, allowing communication signals to pass over mountains, valleys, forests, and other physical obstacles.
This makes the solution particularly valuable for search and rescue operations, large infrastructure projects, and remote locations without communication networks. Relay Mode supports a wide range of DJI Enterprise platforms, including DJI Dock 3, DJI Matrice 400, Matrice 4E, Matrice 4T, Matrice 4D, Matrice 4TD, and DJI FlyCart 100.
High-Precision GNSS Positioning
DJI O4 Ground Station integrates a professional high-sensitivity RTK GNSS receiver supporting five global satellite navigation systems and a total of 19 satellite frequency bands. The system utilises GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, GLONASS, and QZSS satellites, enabling rapid signal acquisition even in challenging environments such as urban canyons or dense forest coverage.
When operating with Network RTK, the system delivers positioning accuracy of approximately 1 cm horizontally and 3 cm vertically, making it highly suitable for precision mapping, surveying, and autonomous mission planning.
Built for Continuous Outdoor Operation
DJI O4 Ground Station is engineered for year-round outdoor deployment. Its IP67 protection rating provides complete resistance against dust and water, while the operating temperature range of –40°C to +55°C ensures dependable performance in harsh environmental conditions. Intelligent power management automatically switches the system into a low-power standby mode, reducing power consumption to approximately 7 W.
During normal Gateway Mode operation, power consumption is approximately 17 W, while maximum consumption, including the integrated heating system, reaches up to 65 W. The station supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) and can be powered by DJI Power solar solutions or third-party autonomous power systems, making it ideal for remote installations.
Open Platform with Extensive Integration Capabilities
Beyond extending drone communications, DJI O4 Ground Station also serves as an intelligent integration hub. The system supports standard ONVIF and GB/T 28181 protocols, allowing up to four IP surveillance cameras to be connected and their video streams displayed within DJI FlightHub 2 alongside the live drone feed.
Support for MQTT-based ESDK 2.0 and the DJI Cloud API enables seamless integration with third-party systems, including ADS-B and Remote ID receivers, enhancing airspace awareness and improving the safety of autonomous flight operations.
